Florida State got a big assist from Wake Forest, with the Demon Deacons helping the Seminoles clinch a valuable Atlantic Coast Conference first-round bye.

Wake Forest (21-8) beat Clemson(21-8), giving Florida State (22-8) the No. 3 seed in the tournament. A Tigers win would have dropped the Seminoles to a No. 5 seed and forced them to play in the first round Thursday. FSU will of the winner of the Clemson-N.C. State (17-14) game at 9 p.m. Friday in the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.

The Seminoles got the best conference tournament draw among Sunshine State teams.
